Update COVID-19 Week of April 19-25

Update Regarding Covid-19 information and resources

As we go forward through the Covid-19 Crisis, we want to do our best to keep our members up to date with the latest information and resources available to us.

1.) The office will remain closed to walk in services. Office staff is present to perform essential services. 2.) While most of the country is shut down, our most essential workers are out there every day building our roads and bridges. The work is just as dangerous now as it’s ever been. That’s why every year we recognize National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week at the beginning of each construction season to encourage safe driving in work zones. While many of the activities we normally have during this week are canceled due to the current pandemic, one thing we can still do is Go Orange on Wednesday, April 22nd.
Help us call attention to the important issue of Work Zone Safety by wearing orange on Wednesday, April 22nd. Take a selfie and post it to your social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter with the hashtags #GoOrange #NWZSAW #workzonesafety or you can send them to us in a facebook message.
Our number one concern is safety for all. Let’s show our support for this issue on Wednesday and GO Orange!

3.) The LIUNA Headquarters has set up a webpage which includes a wide range of resources to help in the weeks and months ahead.

Including federal advocacy efforts, Health and Safety resources, training programs and links to government resources.

3.) Construction Members-please update your skills and dues checkoff and mail them back to the office so we will be ready to send you to work. Remember to complete the expiration dates of Flaggers/ OSHA or other certifications. This is essential.
4.) Apprentice Applications which normally take place on the first Tuesday of each month are suspended indefinitely.

The extension allows for an expiration date of December 31st 2020 but those individuals MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE A NEW COURSE AFTER THE EXTENSION PERIOD ENDS. Should you have questions, please contact the Illinois Training Center at 217-773-2741.
