"Who have I helped today?" Connell F. Smith

Since 1940, Laborers’ Local 773 has been committed to improving the lives of others in our communities. Our strength comes from the willingness to stand together as a united front. It is this commitment to each other that has allowed us to prosper through good times and preserve through bad.

Today we are fortunate to be able to stand with our communities and overcome the challenges and hardships.  TLC supports many local organizations including The Fowler-Bonan Foundation, Special Olympics of Southern Illinois, Hospice of Southern Illinois, The Poshard Foundation and Warming Center of Carbondale, USDA Farm to Families Mission,  The Haven House for Displaced Veterans, Heavens Kitchen providing free meals to residents, and countless other organizations dedicated to improving the lives of others. The Laborers Care (TLC) is a 501(3)C organization designed to identify critical needs and support those in need. The organization is built by gifts from donors and volunteers with events thought-out the year.

In 2020 and 2021, As the pandemic took a devastating toll on the world, The Laborers’ Care (TLC) was proud to be a top participant in the Governments USDA Corona Virus Food Assistance Program. With the help of our members and volunteers we distributed over one-and-a-half a million pounds of food to families in Southern Illinois and beyond.

In 2023, Local 773 hosted our first annual Bocce Ball Tournament to raise funds for the TLC Foundation. With the help of our friends, collogues and supporters, we were able to raise nearly $11,000 at our fall event.

This April, we will host our first Midwest Cornhole Clash at Mt Dew Park in Marion. This will be a charitable event hoping to raise $10,000 for TLC. for more information on the event you can download a flyer here
