June 1 Take a Kid Fishing Day at Herrin City Park



The pond is stocked and ready for Take a Kid Fishing Day! Sponsored by the Union Sportsman’s Alliance beginning at 9am to 1pm at Herrin City Park. Please use the QR code or visit the website https://fishil2024.eventbrite.com to register. No Pole? No problem, the first 200 kids to register will receive a free fishing pole and the bait!

June 1st 7pm Thillville Thrillbillies Diamond Club Free event for members & Families


Saturday evening at 7pm, members are invited to join us at in the Diamond Club VIP event room at Mt Dew Park where the Thrillville Thrillbillies will take on the Full Rhythm Count. Free food and VIP game tickets are included with vouchers. June 1st will also be Party Like a Rockstar Promo Night! Vouchers for the VIP event can be picked up at Laborers Local 773 between 7am and 4pm M-Thurs.

Laborers Rising Volunteer Organizing Committee Holds first Training



Local 773 V.O.C. members from courthouse employees, city workers to construction members came out last Saturday and participated in LiUNA’s Power training.



Assistant Regional Manager Matt Smith and International Rep. Jerry Womick welcomed everyone as Local 773 Secretary Treasurer Jack Skelcher, Vice President Charlie Ferguson and Field Rep. Chuck Sine guided the members through the presentation.



It was a packed house with a great breakfast and even better discussions and plans moving forward. Several new VO.C. members stepped up to lead and teach our next Power training coming soon!

Local 773 Mourns the Loss of our esteemed President Emeritus Edward M. Smith


It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our esteemed President Emeritus Edward M. Smith who passed away January 3rd, 2024 leaving a void that will be felt deeply by all of us in the entire members as a whole.


Ed was not only a visionary leader but also a mentor and inspiration to many within our organization. His dedication, passion, and tireless efforts played a pivotal role in shaping the success of Local 773, and the Laborers’ Union as a whole.


During this challenging time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Ed’s wife Betty, our Local 773 President and Ed’s son Matt, Ed’s daughter Jordan and their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with th...
